Climbing at Rumbling Bald

Andy Roberson, Robert Eimer, Calhoun Clark, Scout Clark

Scout got to go on her first Multi-Pitch climb today.  After winding our way through the maze of trails left by "the pad people", we found the target area on the wall, and Andy led Bear Hunt ( or some variant thereof) 65 feet to the first tree ledge, then the rest of us followed.  After a brief snack, Andy continued up on Gift Certificate (130ft) to the next tree ledge.  Meanwhile, Calhoun was lowering Scout back to the ground so she could retrieve his helmet and gear, and upon her return she roped up to follow Andy.  Robert was kind enough to take another belay as Calhoun then led The Gift (130ft), ending up at the same ledge where Andy and Scout were waiting.  Calhoun then belayed Robert.  After a few moments enjoying the view of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, they all rapped off in succession, then suffered through some top-roping of Fine Line.  We had a great day, just missing the thunderstorm that rolled in on our hike back to the car.
